NHC advice to the Minister of Health on xenotransplantation application by Living Cell Technonlogies
Following the media statement by the Minister of Health to conditionally approve a clinical trial for eight diabetes sufferers by the company Living Cell Technologies Ltd (LCT), the National Health Committee has published a copy of its advice to the Minister.

Informal Caregivers Literature Review
The National Health Committee commissioned
a literature review
on informal caregiving as part of a wider project on informal caregiving.
This review outlines the policy regime in New Zealand and internationally, and presents research on the impacts of caregiving on a caregiver's health, employment, finances and social life. The need to consider Māori concepts of disability and whānau is put forward.

Survey on the Usefulness of the National Health Committee 2002 Smoking Cessation Guidelines
Consultation with users of the 2002 NHC Guidelines for Smoking Cessation was conducted in order to identify and quantify its usefulness. This survey was commissioned to inform the scheduled 2005 revision of the Guideline.
This report contains the results of this survey. In-depth interviews were conducted with key informants and a postal and web-based survey was administered to health workers working in the area of smoking cessation.

This summary summarises the results of the National Health Committee's (NHC) consultation with organisations and individuals, including consumer groups interested in prostate cancer screening. The consultation process was based on a consultation paper on prostate cancer in New Zealand distributed in September 2003. The consultation document invited submissions from the various stakeholders in the health and disability sectors.
