Summary
This consultation was part of a collection of information to contribute to Public Health Advisory Committee’s (PHAC) advice to the Minister of Health on emerging issues for public health in New Zealand. It reports on findings from interviews but it did not necessarily reflect the views of the PHAC.
The PHAC project did not address the detailed content of specific public health programmes but looked at how public health is organised in New Zealand in a sector that has faced, and is facing rapid change. It asked how the relevant sectors could best respond to the new challenges and opportunities this situation presented.
The committee asked for input from the traditional public health sector, and also from other newer players and those with changing roles within the sector to help it identify:
Gaps in reporting the views of the sector and issues that need further thought or clarification
Viable proposals that in your view will enhance public health structures and action.
